Camp Invention
This week Payton is at her elementary school participating in Camp Invention! It is a day camp all week where she gets to invent, create, and have fun with peers. Stay tuned for updates and read about daily activities. On Friday, the kids will "showcase" their inventions to parents so we will take pictures and post!

Reid; FIVE MONTHS OLD TODAY!
SO, Reid is five months old today! wow, where has the time gone?! I'm typing this while listening to the news; we are experiencing a wild and severe thunder/rain storm at the moment. Reid has fallen asleep in his swing and is snoozing while the wind is just howling. I have the window open next to the computer; I will probably need to shut it in a few once the rain hits.
This month has gone by so quickly. We have stuck close to home and found some fun things to do around Boise. We have been going to the water park, which is always an adventure when it's just me and the kids. Shae and Payton have to stick close together and play safe in the pool at times when I tend to Reid. I noticed this past weekend that both kids go down the kiddie water slides by themselves now! That is a huge accomplishment even from a few weeks ago when they wouldn't go down unless I went with them or if I was at the bottom of the slide catching them. Payton is swimming now on her own which is also a milestone this summer. Shae loves to move about the kiddie pool in his floatie which gives him the independence to "swim" without hanging on to me.
We also have gone to a few rodeos this summer. The kids just love watching the various events and spending time with "cowboys!" We went to the Idaho Stampede Rodeo in Nampa last week which was so fun. It was indoors (which is a bonus in those hot cowboy jeans and boots), and it had all the bells and whistles of a big rodeo (clowns, various acts between the events, big time cowboys on the rodeo circuit, big bulls). Definitely looking forward to more rodeos in the next month.
Reid is rolling and trying to scoot already. He can really get his legs under his body when he is on his tummy and push his feet on the ground. He will be a crawler in no time. He is very interactive and talkative, which he usually engages us when he is awake. He is getting on a consistent schedule and enjoying his time with his siblings. You can just see the enjoyment in his eyes when either one spends time playing with him.
He has two teeth already! Both of his two front bottom teeth popped up over the weekend. He's been a little fussy, but mostly a trooper. He likes to chomp on our hands and in the last few days on mommy, so his breastfeeding days are numbered. I figured I'd try and wean him off at 6 months so I have started the process already. We'll see how that goes; he still doesn't dig the bottle gig fully unless he is super hungry and desperate. He started rice cereal on the 11th---we include him at dinner every night with his bowl of cereal. He LOVES to sit with all of us and truly enjoys sitting like a big boy. It is by far our most treasured time of the day! We are a family who LOVES to go out to eat, but with the money crunch (or a recession as some of us want to call it) has been a bit of a blessing in disguise. We spend most nights at home enjoying home cooked meals and talking about our day. Payton reminds us on a daily basis to say our prayers and thank Jesus for our food. He continues to bless us with valued, quality family time and the ability to provide for our family despite the increased cost of living. (I am busy looking for a new job; hopefully something will come my way by September).
That's all for now! Check back soon for more updates! We hope that all of you are enjoying your summer! still has his serious moments
